About the Buckeye Big Buck Club
Ohio's original trophy deer organization. Recognizing exceptional whitetail deer and the hunters who pursue them since 1957.
Our Story
The Buckeye Big Buck Club was founded in 1957 by a group of dedicated Ohio sportsmen who believed that exceptional whitetail deer deserved formal recognition. What began as a small gathering of hunters has grown into Ohio’s most respected trophy deer organization.
For nearly seven decades, the club has maintained the standard for fair-chase deer scoring and recognition in the Buckeye State — connecting generations of hunters through a shared commitment to conservation, sportsmanship, and the pursuit of excellence.
More than two dozen volunteers fill the Executive positions, Board of Trustees, and event coordinators for the BBBC. Additionally, a network of approximately 100 scorers provide free antler measuring services across the state for the Club.
Our Mission
The Buckeye Big Buck Club exists to promote the sport of deer hunting in Ohio, to recognize and celebrate world-class whitetail deer, and to maintain an official record book of Ohio’s finest bucks. We support ethical hunting practices, wildlife conservation, and the continuation of Ohio’s rich sporting heritage.
Club History
Founded in 1957, the BBBC was among the first organizations in Ohio dedicated specifically to trophy deer recognition. The club established its first official record book and began holding annual scoring events, creating a formal system for documenting Ohio’s finest whitetails. Over the decades, the club expanded its scorer network to cover all 88 Ohio counties, growing from a regional group into a truly statewide organization.
Today, the club processes 700–800 score sheets annually, maintains a comprehensive record book hosted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and holds an annual awards banquet that draws hunters from every corner of the state.
